The San Marino Challenger 125 is ready to go in the final week of July, featuring a high-level entry list and significant innovations. The 33rd edition introduces electronic line calling (Hawk-Eye) for the first time, replacing line judges, and will have television coverage on SuperTennis as well as San Marino Rtv.
Tournament director Nicola Lombardini confirmed the three wild cards for the main draw, awarded to Italian young talents. The 18-year-old Jacopo Vasami, former world number 2 in the ITF Junior rankings, is one of the most promising prospects in Italian tennis. He is joined by Filippo Romano, 21, from Sarzana, and the 20-year-old Carlo Alberto Caniato, who trains at Villa Carpena Forli.
"These are three youngsters already competing at Challenger level, recommended by Italy's captain Filippo Volandri," Lombardini said. "The idea is to give them a well-deserved platform to showcase their talent."
