Sydney Taylor buried a 3-pointer with less than a second on the clock and finished with a game-high 29 points as the Chicago Sky edged the Las Vegas Aces 84-83 on Saturday.
Taylor broke from the lane and curled around a screen at the top of the key to take an inbounds pass from Natasha Cloud, rising for a catch-and-shoot winner that snapped the Sky's seven-game losing streak against the defending champions. It also gave first-year Chicago coach Tyler his first victory over his former team. The Sky, who had been winless in six overtime and one-score games this season, had been searching all year for a breakthrough in tight finishes.
The Aces appeared to have stolen it moments earlier, when A'ja Wilson converted a layup with 3.2 seconds left to put Las Vegas in front. Wilson was magnificent all night, pouring in 36 points and grabbing 12 rebounds for a double-double, but Chicago had one last answer. After a timeout, the Sky advanced the ball and found Taylor, whose shot from beyond the arc beat the buzzer.
