The provisional entry list for the 2026 US Open mixed doubles tournament has been released, with defending champions Sara Errani and Andrea Vavassori aiming for an unprecedented third consecutive title at Flushing Meadows.
The tournament runs from Monday August 24 to Wednesday August 26 during the Opening Week of the final Grand Slam of the season. Sixteen teams will compete for the title in a format that has become a fixture of the US Open experience since its reintroduction in 2025.
Full provisional pairings
Aryna Sabalenka & Novak Djokovic Elena Rybakina & Taylor Fritz Mirra Andreeva & Andrey Rublev Iga Swiatek & Casper Ruud Belinda Bencic & Flavio Cobolli Diana Shnaider & Daniil Medvedev Amanda Anisimova & Learner Tien Alexandra Eala & Felix Auger-Aliassime Leylah Fernandez & Frances Tiafoe Taylor Townsend & Alexander Zverev Elena Gabriela Ruse & Nuno Borges Jessica Pegula & Jack Draper Naomi Osaka & Kei Nishikori Sara Errani & Andrea Vavassori Katerina Siniakova & Henry Patten Peyton Stearns & Preston Stearns
Italians in the draw
Two Italian pairs feature on the provisional list. Errani and Vavassori are the defending champions, having won the title in both 2024 and 2025, and will attempt to become the first team to three-peat in US Open mixed doubles history. Flavio Cobolli will partner Switzerland's Belinda Bencic — the same duo that won the Indian Wells Masters 1000 mixed title earlier this year.
Notable absentees
Jannik Sinner, who also missed the 2025 edition after withdrawing from the Cincinnati final (where he was scheduled to partner Katerina Siniakova), is not on the list. Carlos Alcaraz, Coco Gauff, Lorenzo Musetti, Jasmine Paolini, Alex de Minaur, and Ben Shelton are also absent.
Format and schedule
Entries close on Monday August 17 at noon local time. The top six pairs by combined singles ranking will gain automatic entry, eight teams will receive wild cards, and the final two spots will be decided through an eight-pair qualifying tournament on Monday August 24. The round of 16 and quarter-finals are on Tuesday August 25, with the semi-finals and final on Wednesday August 26.
Matches are best-of-three sets with first to four games per set. Tie-breaks are played at 4-4, with sudden death at deuce. A 10-point super tie-break decides the match if the sets are split. Only the final reverts to the traditional six-game set format.
Tiley: "An innovation that engages new audiences"
USTA CEO Craig Tiley welcomed the return of the event. "Every time we bring men and women together on the same team, it showcases tennis at its best," Tiley said. "The mixed doubles tournament is an innovation that will engage a new audience and give our fans another chance to watch the biggest stars compete together."
