Napoli have reached an agreement to extend the contract of attacking midfielder Antonio Vergara until June 2031, closing a saga that opened and shut within a matter of hours. Club president Aurelio De Laurentiis moved swiftly to quell any desire on the part of the Frattamaggiore-born talent to seek a move elsewhere, securing his long-term future in sky blue.
The renewal was brokered with the player's agent, Federico Giuffredi, who made clear there was never any intention on Vergara's part to force a departure. The new deal runs to 2031, with an option to extend for a further year, and includes a significant pay rise compared with his current terms. In the 2025-26 season the 2003-born playmaker scored 3 goals and provided 4 assists in 19 appearances.
The agreement also lays the groundwork for a one-year extension to captain Giovanni Di Lorenzo, who has expressed a wish to end his career at Napoli, as skipper and emblem of the club.
