San Antonio Spurs star Victor Wembanyama, Indiana Fever sensation Caitlin Clark, and former NBA MVP Derrick Rose have been unveiled as the cover athletes for NBA 2K27, publisher 2K Sports announced Wednesday.
Wembanyama, the 2025 Rookie of the Year and reigning Defensive Player of the Year, graces the Standard Edition cover. The 7-foot-4 Frenchman has quickly become the face of the next generation of NBA talent since entering the league as the No. 1 overall pick in 2023.
Clark, the rookie phenom who has already reshaped the WNBA landscape, is featured on the Deluxe Edition. She becomes the first WNBA player ever to appear on a standalone cover of the flagship NBA 2K franchise, marking a historic milestone for women's basketball representation in gaming.
Rose, the 2011 MVP who electrified the league during his prime with the Chicago Bulls, appears on the limited-time Ultra Edition. It is the second time Rose has been featured on the cover — he previously appeared on NBA 2K13.
The Standard Edition releases worldwide on September 4, while Deluxe and Ultra editions launch with early access on August 28.
"This is a dream come true," Wembanyama said in a statement. "To be on the cover of NBA 2K is something every kid who loves basketball dreams about."
Clark emphasized the significance of the platform: "It's special because this game reaches fans all over the world. For young girls who love basketball, seeing a WNBA player on the cover shows them what's possible."
Rose reflected on his journey: "This is a chance to inspire young athletes to stay obsessed with the game. To show them that when you put in the countless hours of hard work, it rewards you."
The cover reveal comes ahead of NBA 2K27's full gameplay reveal next month, with enhanced graphics and new game modes expected for the latest installment of the long-running franchise.
