Will Jordan has rewritten the All Blacks' record books. On Saturday 11 July 2026, in Wellington, the New Zealand back scored a hat-trick against Italy in the Nations Championship, helping his side to a comprehensive 47-17 victory and, above all, becoming the country's all-time leading Test try-scorer.
Jordan went into the match on 47 tries and needed two to draw level with Doug Howlett's long-standing record of 49 and three to claim it outright. He got all three: the first before the break, the next two during a decisive second-half surge as the All Blacks pulled clear. The hat-trick took him to 50 tries from just 56 Tests, making him the first New Zealander to reach the milestone.
The try that equalled Howlett (49) arrived from a pass by debutant Josh Moorby; the historic 50th was created by Ruben Love's quick penalty and a long ball from Jordie Barrett, with Jordan beating the final defender.
