Nicolò Zaniolo has officially put an end to weeks of transfer speculation by signing a contract extension with Udinese that will keep him at the club until June 2029, with an option for an additional season.
The 27-year-old midfielder, who joined Udinese from Galatasaray, put pen to paper on a deal that confirms the Friuli club's ambition to build around the Italian international. The announcement was made public on Monday evening, hours after reports of a breakdown in negotiations had circulated in the Italian press.
Udinese confirmed in a statement: "Udinese Calcio announces that it has signed a new contract with Nicolò Zaniolo. The agreement is valid until June 30, 2029, with an option for an additional sporting season. The club and Nicolò are pleased to continue their journey together."
Zaniolo addressed the fans directly on Instagram: "This shirt, these colours, these people. In recent days there has been a lot of talk about my renewal, often with many inaccuracies. But one thing is certain: my respect for Udinese and its fans has never been in question. This year I want to demonstrate it even more, on the pitch, every day. Forza Udinese!"
The former Roma and Tottenham player had been heavily linked with a move away from the Dacia Arena in recent weeks, with reports suggesting several clubs were monitoring his situation. However, Zaniolo's decision to commit his future puts those rumours to rest and signals his determination to succeed in Udine.
