LDLC ASVEL Villeurbanne have completed the signing of Joel Bolomboy, announcing on Tuesday that the 32-year-old forward-center has agreed a two-year contract with the French EuroLeague club.
The deal brings to a close a summer of speculation over the veteran's next destination. Eurohoops first reported Bolomboy's readiness to commit to ASVEL in early July, but further reports linked him to other clubs, including Unicaja, before the 2.03-meter big man formalized his move to Villeurbanne.
Bolomboy arrives from Crvena Zvezda, where he spent recent seasons establishing himself as one of the most athletic interiors in European competition. A product of Weber State, he translated his college reputation for explosive athleticism and rebounding into stints in the NBA and the G League before building a solid continental career.
For ASVEL, the signing adds a player with elite European experience to a roster in the middle of a rebuild. The club described his profile as a blend of raw athleticism and proven continental pedigree, with relentless energy, tactical versatility and an authoritative physical presence inside the paint. The move is the latest step in ASVEL's reshaping of its frontcourt ahead of the 2026-27 EuroLeague season, as the Villeurbanne side looks to bounce back after a disappointing campaign.
Bolomboy will be expected to anchor the paint on both ends of the floor, pairing defensive mobility with a finishing game around the rim that has been a trademark since his college days.
