Barcelona have completed the signing of Germany international Karim Adeyemi from Borussia Dortmund on a five-year contract that runs until 2031, the Catalan club confirmed on Thursday.
The 24-year-old forward arrives at Camp Nou as part of Barcelona's attacking rebuild following the departure of veteran striker Robert Lewandowski, who joined MLS side Chicago Fire earlier this summer after scoring 120 goals in four seasons for the Blaugrana.
Adeyemi, born in Munich to a Nigerian father and a Romanian mother, brings considerable versatility to Hansi Flick's frontline. Capable of operating as a centre-forward, a left winger or on the right flank, the Germany international combines explosive pace with a powerful left foot — qualities that make him a natural fit for Flick's high-intensity system.
The move represents a reunion with Flick, who handed Adeyemi his senior Germany debut almost five years ago while the forward was developing at Red Bull Salzburg. After coming through the youth ranks at Forstenried, Bayern Munich and SpVgg Unterhaching, Adeyemi made his professional breakthrough at Salzburg before earning a transfer to Dortmund, where he spent four seasons in the Bundesliga.
During his time at Signal Iduna Park, Adeyemi accumulated 48 Champions League appearances across his spells at Dortmund and Salzburg, with two of those coming against Barcelona in last season's group stage. He has earned 11 senior caps for Germany and played an important role in Die Mannschaft's World Cup qualifying campaign.
Adeyemi becomes Barcelona's second signing of the summer window, following England winger Anthony Gordon's arrival from Newcastle United in May. The club previously saw veteran forward Lewandowski depart for the United States, clearing space for a younger attacking unit.
"Adeyemi is a player with tremendous potential," Flick told the club's media. "He has pace, power, and the ability to play across the front line. I know him well from the national team, and I am delighted we will be working together again at club level."
Barcelona, the reigning Spanish champions, are strengthening their squad depth as they prepare for another campaign competing on multiple fronts, including the Champions League. With Adeyemi and Gordon added to a forward line that already features Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Ferran Torres and Roony Bardghji, Flick now has considerable firepower at his disposal.
