Brazil's women's B national team captured the Copa Sudamericana (South American Cup) title with a commanding 3-0 victory over Colombia in Sunday's final in Lima, Peru. The set scores were 25-22, 25-21, 25-22, capping an undefeated tournament run in which the Seleção won all five matches while dropping just one set across the entire competition.
Head coach Wagão's side showed composure and tactical discipline throughout the final, taking control of each set during the crucial phases. Outside hitter Karina led all scorers in the championship match with 15 points, delivering a reliable offensive performance when her team needed it most.
Beyond the team triumph, Brazil swept the individual honours. Opposite Sabrina was named tournament MVP, a well-deserved accolade for her consistent high-level performances across the competition. Middle blocker Lanna and outside hitter Karina both earned spots on the All-Tournament Team.
"The South American Cup is an important championship, with teams fielding their main squads who are very well prepared. We came with our B team, giving opportunities to players, giving them playing time — that's the purpose of this selection, an extension of the main team. Following them day to day in training and matches is very important. But the focus is always on the result, which is what we achieved here. It was an important conquest," coach Wagão said after the match.
"I'm very happy with this gold medal and having helped the team become champions. This MVP award is a fantastic recognition. We worked very hard to reach this moment. The whole team is to be congratulated. I'm very happy to represent Brazil once again," Sabrina added.
The tournament was held entirely in Lima and featured South America's top national teams. Brazil's B squad, which serves as a development pathway for the senior national team, showcased the impressive depth of Brazilian talent while reaffirming the country's dominance on the continental stage.
