Julio Velasco has confirmed Italy's 14-player squad for the CEV EuroVolley Women 2026, with Merit Adigwe called up as replacement for the injured Loveth Omoruyi. The Olympic and world champions open their campaign on August 21 against Croatia in Gothenburg.
The Italian head coach finalised the group on Sunday following a productive preparation period that included the Cavalese training camp and the Memorial Agata Mroz-Olszewska in Poland, which Italy won. Omoruyi, who picked up an injury during the Polish tournament, has been ruled out of the continental championship, opening the door for Adigwe to earn a place in the travelling squad.
Italy, drawn in Pool D, will base themselves at the Scandinavium arena in Gothenburg for the group stage. The team departs for Sweden on Monday and will hold its first training session at the venue in the afternoon. Alongside Croatia, Italy face Poland and Romania in Pool D, with the top finishers advancing to the knockout rounds.
