Como have completed the signing of Brazil international Yan Couto, with the wing-back arriving from Borussia Dortmund on a season-long loan for the 2026-27 campaign.
The Serie A club confirmed the move on 10 August, with the agreement including an option to make the switch permanent. Neither club disclosed the financial details, but reports in Italy and Germany put the loan fee at €2m, with a purchase option worth around €20m. Couto's contract at Dortmund runs until 2030.
Couto joined Dortmund on an initial loan from Manchester City in the summer of 2024, and the move was made permanent shortly afterwards for a reported €30m. Across two seasons in Germany he made 62 competitive appearances, 40 of them in the Bundesliga plus 15 in the Champions League, but struggled to dislodge Julian Ryerson as first-choice right-back. His game time dried up in the closing months of last season, with only four brief substitute outings after March.
"Como 1907 are delighted to announce the loan signing of Brazil national-team right-back Yan Couto," read the club's statement, with the player adding: "I'm very happy to be here. I really like the team's playing style and philosophy, and I hope I can help the team improve even more. I believe this is an important step in my career, and I can't wait to get started."
Head coach Cesc Fabregas expects the 24-year-old to offer a different threat down the right flank. "Yan is a brave and technically strong player who gives us different options on the right side," he said. "He likes to play forward, has great energy and fits well with the way we want to play."
Couto, a four-time Brazil international whose caps all came in the 2023-24 season, is the latest arrival in a busy summer at Como following Kaiki, Mattia Liberali, Luis Milla and Andres Cuenca. The club, back in the Champions League for the new campaign, will hope the Brazilian's attacking drive helps them take the next step under Fabregas.
