Roma have reached an agreement with Atletico Madrid for Nahuel Molina. According to Football Italia, the Argentina right-back is expected in Italy on Monday August 10, when he will undergo his medical tests and sign the contract that ties him to the Giallorossi.
The two clubs struck a deal earlier this week worth around €13m plus €4m in add-ons, with some reports putting the overall package at €17-18m. Molina leaves La Liga after his spell at Atletico Madrid and returns to Serie A, where he previously played for Udinese.
The 28-year-old was part of the Argentina squad that reached the 2026 World Cup final, which is why the move was delayed: the decision was made not to cut his holiday short. Molina spent his last days off in Ibiza and is now ready to begin a new chapter in the Italian capital.
Head coach Gian Piero Gasperini confirmed the timing, telling reporters after the 3-0 friendly defeat to Brighton that "we will see Molina from Tuesday", when the full-back is expected to start training with his new teammates. One important detail on the registration front: Molina will not take up a non-EU slot, as he is in the process of obtaining a Spanish passport.
For Roma, this is a significant addition to the right side of the defence, an area Gasperini wanted to strengthen ahead of the new campaign. Molina brings international pedigree and knowledge of Italian football from his previous spell at Udinese before his move to Atletico Madrid.
Official confirmation still depends on Monday's medical, but the agreement is in place: barring any late complications, the Argentine full-back will be a Roma player.
