Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini has signed a new contract with the club, committing to the Giallorossi until 30 June 2027 with an option for a further season.
The official announcement, delivered on the club's social channels, put an end to months of speculation over the midfielder's future. Pellegrini's previous deal had expired on 30 June, briefly making him a free agent, but he remained in negotiations with the club throughout the summer. Roma confirmed the agreement with a short, pointed message: "Lorenzo Pellegrini, the story continues."
The deal runs for one year until June 2027, with an option for a second campaign. In a statement accompanying the announcement, the club said Pellegrini's decision to accept the proposal was proof of his deep commitment to the sporting vision and values of the Roma project. "Onwards together, Lorenzo," the statement concluded.
Pellegrini has spent almost his entire career in the capital. He came up through Roma's youth academy before a two-year spell at Sassuolo, then returned to establish himself as the heartbeat of the side and take the captain's armband. That status made the renewal a priority, and his free-agent status made it complicated: with his previous contract having run down, he was linked with a move to Juventus and approached by Besiktas, but the midfielder never wavered in his commitment to the Giallorossi.
According to Corriere dello Sport, the new deal is worth around €2.5m per season plus performance-related bonuses, a structure similar to the one agreed with Paulo Dybala, whose own contract situation was resolved in the same way earlier in the summer. Roma had hoped to do the same with Zeki Celik, but the defender instead joined Juventus as a free agent.
The renewal closes a delicate chapter for the club and its captain, securing the symbol of the current Roma squad for at least another season — and potentially longer if the option is exercised.
