Fiorentina have completed the signing of Franco Mastantuono from Real Madrid on loan until 30 June 2027, the Serie A club announced on Friday.
The 18-year-old attacking midfielder arrives after a breakthrough season in the Spanish capital, in which he made 35 appearances in all competitions for Real Madrid — La Liga, the Champions League, the Copa del Rey and the Spanish Super Cup — scoring three goals.
Mastantuono was born in Azul, in Buenos Aires province, on 14 August 2007, and rose through the River Plate academy, making his senior debut at the age of 16. He went on to score 10 goals in 64 games for the Millonarios before Real Madrid secured his signature. He also holds a unique place in Argentine football history: he is the youngest player ever to represent the senior national team, with four caps to his name.
"ACF Fiorentina is pleased to announce the loan signing of Franco Mastantuono from Real Madrid C.F.," the Viola said in their official statement. Real Madrid, for their part, confirmed that the two clubs "have reached an agreement for the loan of the player Franco Mastantuono until the end of next season, 30 June 2027".
Mastantuono becomes the fifth arrival of a busy summer put together by sporting director Fabio Paratici, as Fiorentina strengthen their attacking options ahead of the new Serie A campaign. In his first interview with the club's media channels, the Argentina international said he chose Fiorentina "because it is a club with a lot of history" and declared himself "happy to be here and ready to fight for our objectives". The move is a straight loan, with the teenager due to return to Madrid at the end of next season.
