Italy's men's national volleyball team, coached by Ferdinando De Giorgi, secured a convincing 3-0 victory (25-23, 25-20, 30-28) over Japan B in their first friendly match of the Asian tour ahead of the Volleyball Nations League Finals in Tokyo.
The Azzurri impressed in front of a large Japanese crowd, showing strong technical和组织 and game organization against a much-changed Japanese side.
De Giorgi deployed Sbertoli as setter, Bovolenta as opposite, Mati and Galassi in the middle, Sani and Luca Porro as outside hitters, with Laurenzano as libero. Japan B fielded an experimental lineup with Nishikawa and Murayama in the middle, Arai and Goto as outside hitters, Takahashi at opposite, Kawahigashi as setter and Takahashi as libero.
Alessandro Bovolenta was the top scorer for Italy with 17 points and an outstanding 65% attack rate (17 kills from 26 attempts), with no offensive errors and three blocks conceded. Luca Porro also reached double figures with 11 points, featuring 58% attack success (7 from 12), two blocks and two aces.
As a team, Italy recorded 7 blocks, 59% attack efficiency, 44% positive reception (14% perfect), 6 aces and 17 serving errors. Japan responded with 6 blocks, 53% attack efficiency, 2 aces and 23 serving errors.
The two teams also played an extra fourth set, which Italy won 25-23 capped by a Bovolenta ace.
