Italian tennis star Jasmine Paolini has withdrawn from both the WTA 500 in Washington, D.C. and the WTA 1000 in Toronto as she continues her recovery from a foot injury, with the US Open her primary target for a return.
The world No. 15 announced her decision on Tuesday, 21 July, via an Instagram story, saying she wanted to "give my foot a little more time to rest." Paolini, who reached the Wimbledon final in 2024, has not played since losing in the Wimbledon quarter-finals to Marta Kostyuk earlier this month.
The 30-year-old has been struggling with a left foot problem since early May. After a second-round exit at Roland Garros, she showed solid form at Wimbledon by reaching the last eight before the foot issue forced her to reconsider her summer hard-court schedule.
