However, the Bianconeri's offer of €6.5 million — structured as a loan with option to buy — falls well short of Villa's €12 million valuation for the 34-year-old. Martinez is hopeful of forcing a move through, but Juventus are realistic about the growing difficulty of the deal.
As the Martinez pursuit stalls, Tottenham's Guglielmo Vicario has emerged as the most concrete option. The 29-year-old Italy international has slipped to third choice under Spurs manager Roberto De Zerbi, behind Antonin Kinsky and Martin Dubravka. His exclusion from Tottenham's pre-season tour of New Zealand and Australia — officially attributed to a minor ankle issue but widely interpreted as a transfer signal — has put Juventus on red alert.
