AS Monaco and Paul Pogba have mutually agreed to terminate the midfielder's contract, the French club announced on Tuesday. The deal, which was set to run until June 2027, has been ended by mutual consent with the Principato side stating that the objectives initially set had only been "partially achieved."
The announcement was made before the first official match of the 2026-27 season, bringing to a close a disappointing stint for the 2018 World Cup winner. Pogba joined Monaco during the summer 2025 transfer window after his release from Juventus in December 2024, following the termination of his contract with the Bianconeri.
The Frenchman's time at Monaco was severely hampered by fitness issues. Having served an 18-month doping ban that ended in March 2025, Pogba struggled to regain the form necessary to compete at the highest level. In the 2025-26 Ligue 1 campaign, he made just six appearances, starting only once — against Metz — and accumulated a mere 115 minutes of playing time across the entire season.
