Romelu Lukaku has completed a permanent transfer from Napoli to Fenerbahce, the Turkish club confirmed on Wednesday 12 August, ending the Belgium striker's two-year spell in Serie A.
The deal is understood to be worth €6m plus performance-related add-ons. Napoli sanctioned the departure after securing Rasmus Hojlund from Manchester United as a long-term replacement, and both clubs issued statements confirming the transfer on the same evening.
Lukaku, 33, has signed a one-year contract with the option of a second season and was due to fly to Istanbul from Brussels on Wednesday night, having completed his medical in Belgium. He did not return to Naples as the final details were settled.
The forward joined Napoli from Chelsea in the summer of 2024 in a move worth around €30.7m, scoring 14 goals in 45 competitive appearances. His first season brought the Serie A title and the Supercoppa Italiana, but his second was disrupted by a serious muscle tear sustained in a pre-season friendly — a setback that also undermined his sharpness for Belgium at the 2026 World Cup.
Fenerbahce add Lukaku to a squad that already includes Mason Greenwood and Nathan Ake, the latest additions to an ambitious project in Istanbul. The Turkish side are aiming at the Super Lig title and a return to the Champions League, and the Belgian gives them a proven, physical reference point in attack.
For Lukaku, it is a fresh start after a frustrating final season in Naples.
