ARLINGTON, Texas — Paige Bueckers scored 25 points before leaving the court after a scary collision late in the fourth quarter, and the Dallas Wings beat the Los Angeles Sparks 90-82 on Sunday to stretch their winning streak to a franchise record-tying six games.
Bueckers knocked down a three-pointer that capped a 14-5 run and gave Dallas an eight-point lead with 9:12 remaining. She appeared to be in control until the incident with 3:30 left.
Nneka Ogwumike was fouled while running downcourt and, as she fell, collided with Bueckers. Both players stayed on the floor momentarily. Ogwumike remained in the game, but Bueckers — who seemed to hit the back of her head on the court — walked to the locker room and did not return.
Arike Ogunbowale scored six of her 20 points in the final minutes to seal the victory for Dallas. Jessica Shepard contributed 11 points, 14 rebounds and six assists, while Azzi Fudd also finished with 11 points.
The Wings (17-8) have won six in a row, matching the longest streak in franchise history.
The Sparks (10-15) dropped their fourth straight game, all on the road. Ogwumike led Los Angeles with 17 points and 10 rebounds on 7-of-12 shooting. Dearica Hamby added 16 points on 8-of-12 from the field, Cameron Brink scored 10, and Erica Wheeler dished out 10 assists to go with nine points.
Wings coach Jose Fernandez said there was no immediate update on Bueckers' condition, adding that the team expected to know more later Sunday.
The Wings defeated the Sparks 104-96 in Los Angeles on June 5.
Dallas hosts New York on Monday in a rescheduled game, while Los Angeles travels to face Phoenix on Wednesday.
