Tottenham Hotspur defender Radu Dragusin has completed a season-long loan move to Serie A side Fiorentina, with an obligation for the Italian club to make the switch permanent should certain performance-related conditions be triggered.
The 24-year-old Romanian international joined Spurs from Genoa in January 2024 for a reported £25 million and went on to make 48 appearances across all competitions. However, a serious knee injury suffered in February 2025 disrupted his progress, limiting him to just 11 appearances last season as he struggled to regain full fitness.
Fiorentina, who finished eighth in Serie A last term, moved quickly to bolster their central defensive options ahead of the new campaign. The Viola structured the deal to include performance benchmarks — believed to be related to appearances and the club's league standing — that would convert the loan into a permanent transfer.
Dragusin's time in north London saw him feature in both domestic cup runs and European competition, but the arrival of new defensive recruits under Ange Postecoglou pushed him further down the pecking order. The Romanian previously impressed during his 18-month spell at Genoa, where he established himself as one of Serie A's most promising young centre-backs before earning his Premier League move.
The transfer represents a return to Italian football for Dragusin, who is expected to compete for a starting role alongside Luca Ranieri and Pietro Comuzzo in Raffaele Palladino's backline. For Spurs, the deal provides a potential future fee while allowing the player regular game time to rebuild his match sharpness after injury.
Fiorentina sporting director Daniele Pradé described Dragusin as a "defender of proven quality" who adds depth and experience to the squad.
