AC Milan outcast Rafael Leao is growing increasingly receptive to a move to Turkey, with Galatasaray and Fenerbahce both having submitted concrete proposals for the Portugal international. The 27-year-old winger, who announced before the World Cup that his time at San Siro was over, finds his options narrowing after a frustrating summer.
Leao's current contract with Milan runs until June 2028, but the Rossoneri are eager to sell rather than renew the lucrative deal. The player has been hoping for a Premier League move, but Manchester United and Aston Villa have shown relatively little interest in the former Lille star.
According to Sportitalia, Chelsea have made an approach, though only at the preliminary stage of requesting information. No formal bid has been tabled by the Blues, who are evaluating the market for attacking reinforcements.
The most significant development is Leao's shifting stance on a Turkish transfer. Having initially been unenthusiastic about the prospect, he has recognised his limited alternatives and is now opening the door to Galatasaray or Fenerbahce — provided the wages are substantial enough.
Leao currently earns €5.5m per season at Milan, plus performance-related bonuses. Galatasaray, in particular, could almost double that figure to lure the winger to the Süper Lig. His agent Jorge Mendes has been instrumental in exploring options, with the Turkish clubs eager to secure a statement signing.
Milan are determined to move on from a player who has become a peripheral figure, and a departure before the summer window closes appears increasingly likely. Whether Leao ends up in Istanbul or manages to secure his desired Premier League switch remains to be seen.
