The investigation, which originated from wiretapped phone conversations, had alleged preferential treatment in referee assignments favoring the Nerazzurri but found no concrete evidence. The decree signed by deputy prosecutor Ascione and deputy chief Ielo on July 15 excludes any hypothesis of sports fraud, emphasizing that 'the evidentiary void degrades such hypotheses to the level of mere conjecture'.
The four matches scrutinized were Bologna-Inter (April 20, 2025), the Coppa Italia derby (April 23, 2025), Inter-Verona (May 3, 2025), and Torino-Inter (April 26, 2026). The intercepted conversations reveal Rocchi's intention to find solutions to defuse controversies and club grievances without favoring any team. The decree specifically highlights 'the exclusion of any form of continuous subservience of Rocchi to Inter's desires'.
