Rana Verona have secured the long-term future of Slovenian outside hitter Rok Mozic, who has signed a contract extension keeping him at the club until 2029.
The SuperLega outfit confirmed the agreement on 5 August, with the announcement also carried by Lega Pallavolo Serie A. It is a clear statement of intent from a club that has been building steadily around a young, hungry core since its rebirth.
Mozic joined Verona as a 19-year-old at the start of that project and needed little time to establish himself as one of the most productive attackers in Italian men's volleyball. In his debut SuperLega season he finished as the league's best scorer, a landmark achievement that announced him as one of the competition's standout players and made him a firm favourite with the club's supporters.
The deal through 2029 ends any speculation over his future and gives Verona a cornerstone around which to build. The player himself made clear the decision was driven by more than sporting considerations.
"Verona has become my home," Mozic said. "Renewing until 2029 is a decision that comes from the heart: I want to keep fighting for this jersey, give our fans emotions and write more important pages of our history together with the club."
Sporting director Adi Lami echoed that sentiment, describing the outside hitter as the symbol of the club's project. "There are players who leave their mark for what they do on the court and others who become the symbol of a project," Lami said. "Seeing him extend his journey with us until 2029 is a source of great pride, because it means giving continuity to a story built day after day, with trust, sacrifice and a sense of belonging. We are happy that he has chosen to chase new challenges with us and we are convinced that the best of this story has yet to be written."
For Verona, the extension is the latest sign of ambition in a summer transfer window in which the club has moved decisively. Keeping one of the SuperLega's elite scorers out of the reach of rivals, though, may prove the most important piece of business of the close season: a player who arrived as a promising teenager is now committed to the club for the rest of the decade.
