Roma have officially sent left-back Angeliño to Deportivo La Coruña on loan with an option to buy reportedly worth €2.5m.
The Giallorossi announced the agreement in a formal statement on Wednesday 5 August, after the 29-year-old completed his medical tests in Galicia earlier the same day. According to Sky Sport Italia, the loan is free of charge, with the purchase option — set at around €2.5m — attached at the end of the season.
Angeliño's spell in the Italian capital began in January 2024, when he joined on loan from RB Leipzig before Roma made the move permanent six months later for €5.4m. He scored four goals in 80 competitive appearances for the club, but his final campaign in Rome was derailed by illness.
In October 2025 the Spanish full-back was struck down by a serious form of asthmatic bronchitis, a condition that affected his breathing and made regular training extremely difficult. He managed only nine appearances across the whole season and was not part of coach Gian Piero Gasperini's plans for the new campaign, leaving a loan exit as the natural solution for all parties.
For Deportivo, newly promoted back to La Liga, the deal brings an experienced full-back back to his homeland, with spells in the Bundesliga at RB Leipzig and in Serie A at Roma under his belt. The Galician club will hope Angeliño can rediscover his best form after a year disrupted by illness.
The move is the latest piece of business in a busy summer of transfer activity at Roma, who continue to reshape their squad under Gasperini.
