Juventus Women made a winning start to their European campaign, beating Portuguese side SCU Torreense 2-1 in the semi-final of Mini Tournament 2 of the Women's Champions League qualifying rounds on Wednesday night at the Stadio Pozzo-La Marmora in Biella.
Isaac Guerrero's side controlled the opening 45 minutes in front of nearly a thousand spectators but went in at the break with the score still goalless, frustrated by a compact Torreense defence that grew in confidence as the half wore on. The deadlock was broken within a minute of the restart, however, when Estela Carbonell turned in a cross at the near post to give the Bianconere the lead.
Juventus doubled their advantage on 64 minutes, Ana Capeta finishing coolly after being played in behind the Portuguese back line. Torreense, who had reached the semi-final as a dangerous outsider, refused to fold and set up a tense finale when Marshall Lakip pulled one back in the 89th minute. Juventus held on through several nervy minutes of added time to seal a narrow victory and a place in Saturday's final of the mini-tournament.
Their opponents will be Hammarby IF, who booked their spot in the decider by overcoming KFF Apolonia in the other semi-final played on the same day. The final, also scheduled for the Stadio Pozzo-La Marmora in Biella, kicks off at 21:00 on Saturday 8 August, with the winners advancing to the third qualifying round of the 2026-27 Women's Champions League, one step away from the group stage. Torreense and Apolonia will meet earlier that afternoon in the third-place play-off.
For Guerrero's side, the result extends a promising start to the season after a summer of rebuilding, and gives the club its first competitive European win of the new campaign. The narrow margin, though, was a reminder of the fine lines that decide qualification football at this stage of the competition.
