A.S. Volley Lube has confirmed the signing of Bulgarian setter Simeon "Moni" Nikolov on a three-year contract, the club's headline move of the summer. The 2006-born, 208 cm tall playmaker arrives from Lokomotiv Novosibirsk, where he spent the last campaign in the Russian championship.
Nikolov, already well known to international volleyball watchers, joins a Civitanova side that can now count on a brotherly tandem: his older brother Alex, an opposite, is also on the roster. The club framed the deal as a long-term investment in youth and quality for the SuperLega and Champions League campaigns ahead.
The Bulgarian federation, under coach Chicco Blengini, will also benefit from the two Nikolovs lining up together at club level before international duty.
