Toronto Tempo land forward Aneesah Morrow in trade with Connecticut Sun
The Toronto Tempo have acquired forward Aneesah Morrow from the Connecticut Sun, the franchise announced on Friday. Toronto sent its second-round draft pick in 2028 and the rights to Maria Kliundikova to Connecticut in exchange.
"We're thrilled to welcome Aneesah to our organization," Tempo general manager Monica Wright Rogers said. "She's a relentless competitor who impacts the game in so many ways, particularly with her ability to rebound at a high level. We believe she's one of the emerging frontcourt talents in this league."
Morrow, drafted by the Sun, is averaging 11.6 points and 8.9 rebounds in 23 minutes a game this season, with nine double-doubles, tied for eighth in the WNBA. Sun president Jen Rizzotti thanked the forward for her professionalism and commitment since being drafted, adding: "She embraced our vision, was a tremendous ambassador for our franchise both on and off the court."
Kliundikova was selected 11th overall in the 2018 WNBA draft by the Los Angeles Sparks, played two seasons there, and featured for the Minnesota Lynx in 2025 before being chosen by Toronto in the expansion draft. The Tempo sit 12th in the standings at 10-18, with their debut season hampered by injuries to starting guard Brittney Sykes, sidelined with a foot problem, and rookie Kiki Rice, who recently returned after missing two months with a left ankle sprain. The front office's move for Morrow signals the franchise's intent to build around young talent as it pushes through the second half of the campaign.
