Bologna FC have completed the permanent signing of Rahim Alhassane from Real Oviedo, bringing in the Niger international as a left-back option behind Juan Miranda for the upcoming Serie A campaign.
The 24-year-old joins the Rossoblù in a deal worth around €3.5 million, having developed through the Spanish football pyramid after being born in Abuja, Nigeria. Alhassane, who also holds a Spanish passport, made 27 La Liga appearances for Real Oviedo last season, operating as a left-sided full-back in a four-man defence.
Alhassane becomes the first Nigerien player in Bologna's history and adds depth to a department that manager Domenico Tedesco had identified as a priority in the transfer window. The club confirmed the move on Monday, describing the defender as a modern left-back with pace, intensity and a strong attacking instinct.
The defender's career trajectory is one of steady progression. After coming through the Rayo Majadahonda youth academy and starting his senior career with affiliate side Paracuellos Antamira in the Spanish fourth tier, he spent time on loan at Gimnástica Segoviana before a breakout spell at Recreativo Huelva. There he established himself as a regular, making 33 league appearances and scoring his first professional goal — form that earned him a move to Real Oviedo in 2024.
Alhassane's consistency in Segunda Division earned promotion to the top flight with Oviedo, and last season he proved his ability at La Liga level with 27 league appearances plus one in the Copa del Rey.
Internationally, Alhassane has 26 caps for Niger's senior national team, having previously featured for the Under-23 side. He brings experience of both Spanish football and African international competition to a Bologna squad preparing for the 2026-27 Serie A season.
