Joe Schmidt to work in consultancy role with Ulster Rugby coaches

Former Ireland and Australia head coach Joe Schmidt will work with Ulster Rugby in a consultancy role focused on the province's coaching pathway.

Schmidt, who led Ireland to three Six Nations titles and coached Australia at the 2023 Rugby World Cup, brings extensive international coaching experience to the URC province.

The New Zealander, regarded as one of the finest strategists in world rugby, will work alongside Ulster's coaching team to contribute to the development of training methods and technical culture at the Belfast-based province.

"It's a privilege to collaborate with a province so rich in history," Schmidt commented. "Ulster has tradition, talent, and a passionate fan base. I hope to offer my contribution to help grow the coaching pathway."

The announcement comes at an important time for Ulster, who aim to return to competitiveness at the top of the URC and in European competitions.
