Mark Cuban accuses Mavericks owners of freezing him out in arena dispute

Mark Cuban has accused Dallas Mavericks governor Patrick Dumont of freezing him out of business decisions regarding a proposed arena move, according to a newspaper report cited by [AP News](https://apnews.com/article/mavericks-mark-cuban-patrick-dumont-legal-dispute-58effb67a5cd19b93eb5e458a5e195fa).

The Dallas Morning News reported Wednesday that Cuban alleges Dumont engaged in "adversarial business practices" in his bid to move the team approximately 10 miles north of downtown Dallas to the former site of a shopping mall. The billionaire sold his majority stake in 2023 to the families of Miriam Adelson and Dumont, who is Adelson's son-in-law.

Cuban said he had an agreement to continue running basketball operations, but Dumont instead gave former general manager Nico Harrison full control of the basketball side. Cuban revealed he was unaware of Harrison's plan to trade superstar Luka Doncic to the Los Angeles Lakers in February 2025 until it was too late to object and call off the deal.

The shocking trade backfired on the Mavericks, with Harrison fired in November after the team's slow start to the 2025-26 season. Cuban still owns 27% of the Mavericks, but the purchase agreement reportedly includes a clause allowing the Adelson and Dumont families to buy another 20% of his stake.

The filing comes just over a month after the Mavericks signed an option agreement to purchase approximately 104 acres in north Dallas as part of plans to build a new arena that would open in 2031. The team's lease at the American Airlines Center expires the same year.
