Szoboszlai signs a five-year extension with Liverpool

Dominik Szoboszlai has committed his future to Liverpool until the summer of 2031. The Hungary midfielder, who turns 26 in October, has signed a new five-year deal with the Reds, ending any short-term talk of an exit from Anfield.

The announcement, dated Friday 17 July 2026, was reported by Sky Sports News, which quotes directly the player's words published on Liverpoolfc.com. Szoboszlai had two years left on his previous contract: the new agreement replaces a deal due to expire in 2027, extending the bond until 2031.

"It's maybe my biggest day," the No. 8 told the club's official channels. "When I signed, I said I want to win everything. That didn't change for a little moment either." The reference is to the ambition of lifting, alongside the domestic honours already collected, the Champions League with the Reds.

Szoboszlai arrived at Liverpool in the summer of 2023 from RB Leipzig for a fee of around £60m. The club regards him as a now central and increasingly influential figure: he was a key member of the title-winning side of 2024/25 and was named the team's player of the year last season.

The renewal comes as Liverpool build their squad for the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, aiming to confirm themselves at the top of English and European football. For Szoboszlai, the message is clear: "There's always more to come."
